This month, our theme focuses on environmental sustainability in the sports sector, highlighting significant initiatives by Sport England and Sport Wales. Both initiatives highlight the importance of integrating environmental sustainability into the sports sector, demonstrating a commitment to reducing carbon footprints and fostering a greener future through sports.
Sport England has launched their first-ever environmental sustainability strategy, Every Move. As part of this strategy, Sport England has committed £45 million to support the sport and physical activity sector respond to climate change.
Sport Wales - In 2023, Sport Wales awarded nearly £1.4m to 79 different clubs – and already, they’re seeing a difference, experiencing the benefits of reduced energy consumption and cost savings. The shared experiences and advice from these clubs provide valuable insights into the positive impact of the grant and encourage further adoption of energy-saving measures.
