Tap retired people
Ramesh Kumar
Here to expose fake influencers and educate vulnerable people. Some one called me Influslayer! Fighting plagiarism. Believer of 'Nothing is impossible'. What I express here is personal & nothing to do with my Company.
I met a few of my ex-colleagues in a marriage reception last week. I realised suddenly that while I am 58 and there is no pressure of retirement in my company, many have retired from their companies as they crossed 60 years.
Some took up another job either for getting some money or as they don't like sitting at home. Many are just relaxing at home. I know them personally and they are brilliant. Most of them may be willing to help others, but do not know where the opportunities are or they don't like approaching themselves for some avocation.
One person is brilliant in Software and retired from a reputed company. He created some software way back in 1995-96 which could be called SAAS that time. He had developed a software where any non-programmer can select few menu based options and can make a software of his/her own. Any programmer with some experience can select options from menu, create software and then modify the code as required. It was an amazing feat in late Nineties !
Another person is a great Electronics guy specialised in AC Motor controls and Power plant controls. He can build a perfect system.
There is another gentle man who specialised in Material Procurement , Purchase etc
One person is very good in Solar panel marketing to Government agencies.
My best friend is an amazing Techno Commercial in Industrial Controls and took voluntary retirement. He is teaching now and then in an academic institution as hobby.
And there are so many, who have retired after working in mid level, settled in sofas in front of TV.
I have requested one person to help us for 1 year to work as a manager at a client place to execute a project. He did wonderful job.
Many ex-servicemen from Armed forces find their way in the Corporate world. But, most of them are below 60.
I hope to make a platform for retired people who are willing to be consultants , part time or full time, depending on their willingness. It is not necessary that all retired people are good to train others or help. One must also what were their achievements and use their brain appropriately.
Some ways to tap these great brains :
- If you need to mentor your young Engineers, we can use these gentlemen
- If you are stuck with a problem in your product/design/software , these intelligent people may help
- They can motivate others by just being mentors/advisors
This also helps them as;
- They feel that they are 'wanted' and feel proud. This happiness extends their healthy life
- Whatever remuneration ( peanuts as compared to working pros) helps them too
Why to let such a talent go waste? Let me know if any one wants good brainy retired people in Bangalore! Send a mail to rameshb at vsnl dot com

8 年Thanks for writing this. There's immense experience we could tap, if not for our blinkered ageist approach to recruiting...
