Avocado production in Tanzania is mainly done in humid climatic conditions of Southern Highlands areas involving the regions of Mbeya, Njombe, Iringa, and Ruvuma.

The region is very highly recognized for the production of the popular Hass avocados variety which is an organic type. Tanz trust with agribusiness local partner, are working closely with the government and have potential lands available up to 10,000 acres of arable land which is suitable for avocado production.

Despite opportunities for avocado farming, there is also a need to plan to process and package avocado according to international standards. There are a vast of opportunities of working together in avocado production, packaging, and exportation. Our Agribusiness local partner is one of the companies engaged in the avocado sector, together we are looking for serious strategic partners to work together to conquer the export demand and open opportunities for local farmers to get reliable markets for avocados produced from Tanzania.

  • Less than 1% of all meat is processed locally, at the same time vast quantities of processed meat are imported

  • Tanzania spends more than US$ 150,000 annually to import edible oil. The lack of modern mechanical extraction equipment and ineffective way to increase productivity in agriculture has situated Tanzania to rely on imported edible oil.
  • Tanzania has sunflower, cotton, groundnuts, soya beans, and palm, which, with increased production, and productivity can be used to anchor a competitive edible oil industry in the country and regional market.
