TANZ – For The Good Of The Tiling Industry

For thousands of years tiles have been used in construction, ranging from beautiful mosaic floors in stately homes and adorning the outside walls of impressive buildings to lining luxurious bathrooms and grand kitchens, the use of tiles has become seemingly limitless.

 In New Zealand we have embraced the use of tiles and the tiling industry has flourished, for many involved this has become more than a job it has become their passion, as the installation of tiles in a bathroom or kitchen gives instant colour and texture, creating mood and ambience.

 As good as installations are, there are many that have turned into horror stories for the client. That is why TANZ The Tile Association of New Zealand has been formed, as the tiling industry is not regulated and we need to protect and support all those involved in the installation of tiles from the specifiers to the architects right down to the designers, builders, tilers and most importantly the homeowners and clients.

 TANZ has seen horror stories that have ended up costing the clients in some cases hundreds of thousands of dollars. We are here to help, right from the design and specification stage, endeavouring to educate the tiler on best practice and methodology, giving the client the confidence that the specifications has been followed properly with product and installation.

 Rather than be the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff in writing reports, highlighting faulty workmanship or incorrect specifications and product failure, we prefer to get the correct installation specification and education of products sorted at the beginning of the process.
