TAMING THE WWW.

I have spent the greater part of my working life moulding, analyzing & synthesizing, crafting & re crafting ideas and information into acceptable formats, able to be dissected, chewed-on, digested and allowed to ferment in order to further the growth and development of people. The mechanics of education has many forms; from asynchronous through to synchronous formats, with everything in between. We're all looking for that next big thing in education; the format that is fresh, feasible and fancy - enter the WWW.

It struck me forcefully that we really don't need to spend inordinate amounts of time creating training and development material, shaping them into courses acceptable to HR departments and the general public in dire need of the next self-help option to keep abreast of the calls on our intellect - we simply need to channel the resource at our fingertips, literally; the internet.

So, without going into great and boring detail, I think that harnessing the vastness of the information on the web and taming it to suit our needs is the next big thing. Why? Because we are relational and finite beings - we're relational because we're finite - we can't do everything ourselves - we need the thinking of others to make our lives richer.

I have experimented with this idea and used the concepts and thinking of others to craft something that makes sense, is useful, is fresh, feasible and, I think, rather fancy.

I have taken the topic closest to my heart; a topic that I've comprehensively built, rebuilt, and rebuilt again, plus trained and facilitated exhaustively - Personal Branding (...to make an impact) - and by taming the excellent ideas and thinking on the internet, have produced something useful - a purely ONLINE, self-help course that will go a long way to making a difference in the lives of countless numbers of people who find themselves stuck in the mundane.

To the reason for writing this piece - I am looking for a number of volunteers to "pilot" the course, either themselves or as a department, class, branch or unit project, at no cost, simply to give me feedback and iron out the chinks. Essentially, this is a free, once-off offer to do a personal branding course, online, in your own time, at your own pace - the commitment is 6 hours online - 1 hour / day for 6 days - don't have to be consecutive.
