?It is no secret that todays work environment can be stressful. The demands of modern life often leave us feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope with the stressors around us. One way to combat this feeling is by taking steps to regulate our nervous system in the workplace as a daily practice. By consciously regulating our nervous system, we can reduce stress, increase productivity and efficiency, and drive performance.
What is Nervous System Regulation?
Nervous System Regulation is essentially a process of self-care that helps to keep our minds and bodies in balance during times of stress. It involves recognizing our body’s physical cues (such as tension in the neck or shoulders, racing heart) and actively responding to them in appropriate ways. This could include anything from yoga and meditation, to deep breathing exercises or even going for a walk outside. By engaging in these activities, we are able to turn on our 'Relaxation Response" in order to calm down our body’s fight-or-flight response and return it back to a state of equilibrium where we can focus on what needs to be done in the present moment.
Benefits of Nervous System Regulation
Regulating your nervous system has numerous benefits both inside and outside of the workplace. On an individual level, it can help you stay focused on tasks, manage your emotions more effectively, think clearly under pressure, and collaborate better with colleagues or clients. In terms of business outcomes, it also boosts productivity levels as well as team morale which ultimately leads to increased profits and success for the company as a whole.

1 年I couldn't agree more, Violet! As a practitioner and educator on Embodiment, I consider methods of stress reduction to cross between the physical and mental channels of embodiment, and nervous system regulation falls equally between the two. I especially love what you wrote that nervous system regulation is a very powerful tool for both individual success (and just plain feeling better in your body!) and the collective success of the company and immediate team dynamic. Thanks for writing this.
