In my last article I mentioned about two things that deviates our mind every now and then and those were ..... a) Thinking of what has happened in the past and not living in the present and b) the multiple tasking syndrome.
In this article I will further drill down as to why our mind behaves the way it is :-
Our mind is active 24*7, it never rests and if it never rests then there has to be constant watch on what it is doing and how you can keep it engaged. In fact the mind can be very well be compared to a baby who is active and wants to explore whatever it sees. The mind also behaves the same way, it has so much inquisitiveness that it will keep on wandering and will never be at ease. Hence it is important to keep a close watch at it and feed it with the information it is looking for so that it is at ease, just like a child, cuddle your mind, help it get relaxed and talk to it, exactly the way you do it your beloved child or may be even your pet. If we learn this art of setting our mind at ease inspite it being so active, we will feel better and more controlled of any situation and scenario. Let me share some of ways where you can actually try keeping your mind at ease :-
a) Write down whatever is going through inside your mind, the thoughts that are churning in, the feelings that are flowing, the tasks that have to accomplished and mention when you will address each of these.
b) If your mind is thinking about future, give it assurance that everything will be fine and it need not worry and try to convince him with a plan that you have made, the contingency plan, read that plan to the mind so that it is assured that there is nothing to worry about you are already prepared for future.
c) There might be something that has happened in past and there is a feeling of resentment or anguish and that is what might be troubling you. Please write it down and put an explanation against it as to why it happened and also reason out why you reacted the way you reacted and justify it and if possible you may also go step further and mention what is your learning from it and how you intend to implement it so that this incidence never occurs.
We need to understand that since our mind is active, always involved in some or the other activity, we cannot ignore it. We have just hear it, a response to it may or may not be required and listening to what it is saying, what is causing it to worry or be anxious is important and then putting at ease.
Try practicing what I have mentioned above and do let me know if that helped ..... In my next article I will touch base upon how to discipline your mind.
