Tall Grass and Long Steel
Dave Dutton-Fraser
President, Founder at Fraser's Edge Wordsmithing and EROS,Writer, Lecturer, Occultist, Wizard, Former Bad Guy.
On a prairie, dry and flat,
there are obstacles tamed by man.
Where steel is placed to harness
The wild coulees’ span.
No thought is given to beauty
or the vast blue of the sky,
For the graceful, lonely prairie
Requires a hard man’s eye.
A land so barren and rugged,
Those with civilized views are lost.
Only fools and cowboys
Can see what such steel has cost.
?Sure tall sandstone walls
Beset with iron appear to be now tame
But for men who ride land dry and flat
Only the sky looks the same.

6 年That is a lovely poem n it speaks volumes....
In transition
6 年My Father in law used to help build bridges one named Bridge of the Gods located in the Columbia Gorge joining Oregon to Washington state. One of my favorite bridges on account of the view. Here are s couple other favorites: Tacoma Narrows Bridge, I'd cross when going to visit family on the Puget Sound area- I'd roll down my window and soak in the Sea aroma and love it because of my love if a seafood I grew up with from living near another bridge called Hood Canal. One more is Deception Pass bridge my most breath taking view and love to walk part way feel the powerful breeze and behold strong currents on both sides
