Talkwalker Market Pulse - How MuseumWeek engages at a global local level
Your weekly consumer intelligence briefing - June 14, 2023
Museums unite
Last week marked the annual MuseumWeek, a global initiative that unites museums worldwide in a celebration of cultural heritage and learning. Established in 2014, MuseumWeek features an array of live events and social media campaigns, all designed to foster community engagement and inspire individuals to connect with their local museums.
This year, MuseumWeek and its associated hashtags garnered 23.8K mentions and 124.1K engagements.
Cultural themes
MuseumWeek expanded its reach through content that addressed various themes, including 'Environment' to honor World Environment Day, and food for 'World Food Safety Day.' We can identify the topics that resonated the most with audiences.
Notably, AI emerged as the front-runner, reflecting its current status as a subject of keen interest. However, it was somewhat surprising that the 'Environment' theme did not garner as much attention, especially given that mentions of World Environment Day increased by 21% compared to the previous year.
An influential event
Community engagement is paramount to the success of initiatives like MuseumWeek. It’s not merely about disseminating information, but actively encouraging participation and involvement in the events.
An Influencer Network offers a glimpse into how the museum community and its broader network engaged with MuseumWeek. Each cluster features a museum at its core, surrounded by a network of individuals and organizations amplifying the message. Moreover, the interconnectivity between the museums reflects a cohesive global narrative, effectively engaging audiences on an international scale while maintaining a local touch.
