7 WAYS TO WRITE ON SOCIAL MEDIA USING ONLY 27% EFFORT OR LESS
The best ideas don't see the light of day because most of us hate writing online, or don't have the time. This is robbing the galaxy of pure gold. These pointers may make writing suck less.
I, ME, MY : Using the first person makes YOU the hero. Writing, just like anything else, is easier with a little ego boost. The first person also creates an instant connection with the reader, converting into easier flow of thoughts. By the same logic, use the active voice.
DON’T WANNA WRITE? COMMENT ON OTHERS' POSTS : Being part of a larger discussion takes the spotlight off of us. Saying what’s on our mind is easier ‘when no one’s watching’.
SHOW, DON’T SAY : Break the ice without uttering a word. Create interesting graphics easily on canva, post fun memes, recycle posts. Don't forget the selfie - it usually doesn't fail.
USE THE DIARY FORMAT : People trust the journal as an unbiased recording of happenings and not a marketing gimmick. Bonus? The frills free, documentary style of a diary can make writing a bit simpler.
TRY SELF DEPRECATING HUMOR : The ability to laugh at ourselves is an attractive social trait. Taking ourselves off the high pedestal also removes the burden of perfectionism, a big reason why many of us hesitate to write.
GET 'EM TO DO IT : Share your endorsements and testimonials online, or showcase your achievements and media mentions on social platforms.
BASK IN REFLECTED GLORY : Poke friends to share their stories or pics that have you in it.
SPOTTED : INTERESTING SHARK
I found Kevin O'Leary going on TV in his WFH suit hilarious, bodacious and audacious, in exactly that order. I think if more people gave as few hoots (as he seems to give here) about what other people think, it would be a world with more interesting people. No, the pic isn't photoshopped, here's proof.
I know. people three times in one sentence.
NOW WE KNOW WHAT IT MEANS
Interesting is all about attitude. How must we sign off an email? This guy shows us what masterclasses won't...
OGILVY CHIEF CONFIRMS WHAT INVESTORS HAVE KNOWN FOR A WHILE : CRAZINESS IS THE BIGGEST ASSET IN BUSINESS
领英推荐
Actually, what Rory Sutherland said was that businesses built on an unexpected psychological anomaly are blessed with the holy grail of branding : Differentiation. But what Rory is really saying is that if you have a contrarian view or a quirk, talk MORE about it, not less.
Mr Sutherland is the Vice Chairman of Ogilvy, an attractively vague job title which has allowed him to co-found a behavioral science practice within the agency. He is also a very interesting man, as these quotes prove. So don't stop at this video : hit him a Follow and stay entertained and enlightened all year.
HEARD OF GUERILLA ADVERTISING?
For those who haven't, guerilla marketing is a branch of, well, marketing. It has nothing to do with gorillas, but can be just as wild. The technique involves cleverly blending brand promotion with the natural environment. When the blend is frictionless, the effect is gorgeous. An interesting blip in a boring day. Lesson learnt? Mix the unmixable. Click to play.
"IF YOU WANT ACTION, DON'T WRITE.
Go and tell the guy what you want."
The funny thing is, the above quote belongs to a writing guru. The name is Ogilvy, David Ogilvy. The serious thing is this : The best kind of business and relationshipping still happens one on one, down and dirty. The rest is all fancy, ivy-league indulgence.
