If talking to someone is like talking to a brick wall, the person you are speaking to does not listen "Listen, I've tried to discuss my feelings with her, but it's like talking to a brick wall. She is not paying attention. She is just 'absent' Period!.
Do walls react to us? Have you tried it before talking to the walls? Why not? If walls start giving good piece of advice, being kind and helpful, then it’s just a harmless eccentricity. Unless you are distressed by these talking walls, or it interferes with your functioning in society to an extreme degree, then it becomes mental illness.
The wall we are talking about here is an abstract piece of "self protective barrier to thoughts" that the 'ego' puts up in place between the people. Yes, this kind of mental state is highly subjective in nature, and is generally defined in the Defence System Mechanism and other places as something which distresses the patient or causes huge problems with functioning in society. And if you want to get really technical, there are other more important things that can be considered mental illnesses by some people.
What is the valid reason for talking to the walls depends on your intentions. Are you bossing them around? Asking advice? Talking to walls about the weather? Do you get answers from them? Do you talk to walls because you believe it’s a 'metaphor' for human connective defence mechanism not functioning well? Answers to those questions can pinpoint possible disorders. Are any disorders bad? Yes, each in their own way.
Although it may seem obvious to some, this defensive strategy among "extremely cautious" individuals is often linked to painful past experiences. Much like walls in the real world, this psychological defence barrier exists to protect. Although there are defensive perks i.e., checking ourselves from giving sensitive information to insensitive people there are unforeseen adverse effects, as well. Especially if this defensive tactic is unceasingly in play.
Don't we sometimes talk to ourselves or any object like mirror in front of us? Because we can’t say “something” to others! Because we are disturbed by something, and we don’t know how to resolve it. Because we are lonely inside very lonely some times whether it could be related to any dream or any memory or something like that from the past ! I don’t think this thing is bad or going some other direction but you should spend sometime alone and try to get as much as information.
Once I tried to say "Hello Wall” and jokingly I’ve used it a few times myself. But do you actually carry on a conversation with a wall? Or are you saying something sarcastic to yourself. While looking at the wall just to throw you off the comment. Which may have been aimed at you personally. I think you had better talk to someone about what’s happening. The walls hear and listen to you because they have"ears" it is said that walls absorb emotions and also store information in them by way of layers. Walls do have feelings and it is observed many times while talking to walls probably feel I am tempted to assume schizophrenia or some kind, but it could be stress related or anxiety related or something if one does to cope with a lack of motivation, like me. If you’re friends and you see them in actual distress, ask them if you can help. If you’re not friends and they are not distressed, it’s not your business to interfere anyways. But talk to the walls, it is allowed and sometimes it helps too because they are no arrogance there built in the walls they are just plain in nature and neutral in their behavioural patterns.
We are not alone in this world but walls are built by humans around each one of us that is because they like to form walls instead of bridges to interact with people. Humans want to erect walls and barriers among other fellow humans so that they are all following social distancing of a kind without have a proper piece of communication between the walls erected for special purposes of keeping humans away from each other. 4 年Agree with all your thoughts.. And yes, walls or things we are surrounded by- does have the same emotions and vibrations as we have. The vibes we emit touches everything; one might have observed, when we hold someone’s belongings, it does feel so belonged to the person. And in the context you are talking about- is right , that we can talk to the walls at times?? they do understand our emotions, they do console us sometimes??
