?I’m giddy.?The winner may not be announced until tomorrow, but as far as I’m concerned,?even?being recognized as a finalist is a win in my book.??

Just?take a?look?at the results?we have?achieved?in the past year.??

  • Employee Value Proposition:?We?focused on defining and measuring an authentic Employee Value Proposition to?attract curious, driven, flexible talent. Our new Rain Makers?now bring more?diversity of thought and experience to the table.?
  • Improved Glassdoor Ratings:?We invited current Rain Makers to rate us on Glassdoor to give candidates a?current sense of what it’s like to work here. This?helps us attract?new Rain Makers who?will enjoy?and enhance?our culture.?Our?scores rose a full point in less than a year.?
  • A Commitment to “Being Better”:?We?identified?areas where our recruiting efforts?fell short. Here’s what we did to better recruit talent?that?reflect?the communities we serve:?
  • We dropped outdated job requirements that created barriers to entry.?
  • We rewrote our job descriptions using inclusive language.?
  • We?now?feature?more?people in our job ads who?reflect?the communities?we?serve.?
  • We went out of our way to?invite everyone to apply.?Rather than just?relying on referrals?which could lead to cloning ourselves, we sought thought diversity.?
  • We closed the gender?gap in sales recruiting,?from just 22%?of?applicants one year ago who identified as female to 50% today.?

It has been said that culture eats strategy for breakfast. While dealing with a global pandemic wasn’t built into our strategy for 2020, the fact that we had been?hiring for?diverse, driven, curious people who could pivot quickly?allowed us to rise and?meet the?challenges of?this past year. As a result,?our employee engagement scores?actually went?up to?86-percent.?We shined?as a?flexible and?creative?team.?Our?employer?brand, our?culture,?and?our DNA?attracted just the right people to?tackle the substantial challenges we faced.?

Under the leadership of our CEO, Chris Hall, we?are?all on a mission to “be better people and leaders.”?This?renewed?commitment to?community?had to start from within, and thus?began our?own self-reflection. Together, we set out to build a more progressive and sustainable culture where all Rain Makers can thrive.?I’m thankful for the progress we’ve made so far, and I know the best is yet to come.??
