Talk of the town technology - AI

Nowadays for any given problem in the world has two prominent solutions from technology world first one is Artificial intelligence and second is blockchain. So, in this article let's have over view what is AI?

Last week when i told my maid that i am student of Big Data Analytics surprisingly she asked me " Bhaiya kys lagta he ye AI humare pet pr laat marega" ( what do you think will AI take my job?). I was shocked and it struck me possibly it could mean two things, first internet penetration in our country is going in right direction, second these technology has become talk of the town.

If you search AI on google you get more than 40 pages of results and believe me after 40 i was so tired of reading AI. So, now i have decided to look into it does these talk of the town technologies have potential to change the world?

In this article we will look into basic of AI. I am not going to tell you that this term was first coined in 1952 by John McCarthy to describe field of science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer program. instead of this i would say AI is system or machine which could mimic human cognitive capability like learning, remembering and retaining.

Current AI is toddler as it could mimicking human cognitive capability at very nascent level. for example to beat chess grand master Garry Kasparov it required cupboard size computer but more funny thing is it could only beat him at chess it can not drive car like Garry. My point is currently AI master of one or i would say it is super specialist in doing one particular task and dumbest at other all tasks.

So coming back to my maid that " Aunty AI apke ya mere pet pe laat nahi marega agar hum log apne har kam ko pure dil se kare kyuki AI ke pass dimag he dil nahi" ( Aunt AI won't take our job if we do it with passion because AI might have smartest brain but it won't have humanity or kindness). I was bit philosophical to her but in reality there are 3 broader types of AI.

1. ANI (Artificial Narrow Intelligence)
2. AGI (Artificial General Intelligence)
3. ASI (Artificial Super Intelligence)

You would definitely get technical explanation of all three. let me make it very easy for you by reference. So, first one ANI it is type of AI currently we are experiencing like self driving cars(Tesla). Second AGI we are very far away from discovering this type of AI. Only example of AGI coming to my mind is Jarvis from iron man movie which was able to mimic every cognitive activity a human could do even better than human like driving a car, flying a plan, running a company, doing research, all the things we have seen and read in marvel contents. So coming onto final and bit of scary type of AI which is ASI. I think what was closest to ASI what vision from marvel which was able to create emotion into it and also was able to mimic very complicated things like empathizing and sympathizing.

I think we would might see AGI in nearly 2100. Definitely people would say we have developed sofia and other humanoid robots but there is big difference between humanoid robots and AI we have to draw very thick line between them. I am very optimistic about a humanoid robot with AI which would make real difference in the world again movie reference but this time Bollywood chitti from robot movie. which was a humanoid robot with AI in it. with this he was able to do cognitive activity while looking like a human.

So, i would say AI could be possible solution for several problems but we also have to think about the resources currently we using for developing it. which might solve bigger problems of world. I think developing and deploying AI with sustainability in mind would lead us into the great future where human are leveraging AI rather than fearing from it.
