The Talk Shit Show - my new political adventure

I have exciting but ridiculous news.

Exciting because I published the first of my new political content series; The Talk Shit Show with Lisa AND Niko Barry (my husband)

It isn't anything to do with content marketing and some would say this means I am going off message, actually is it right on brand.

I realise I don't quite fit into the online marketing world, clients work with me specifically for that reason.

They often come to me fed up of the status quo, the blueprints, the hustle and the push.

They've done the courses that promise the world and have been left jaded. They are sick of being forced to learn the ever changing rules of a game they don't even want to play.

Oh and every time they spot BoJo on the news they can't help but being a little bit sick in their mouth.

So no, The Talk Shit Show won't be giving advice on content marketing but that doesn't mean it isn't Mission Led Content.

??I am following my heart, soul and gut.

??I am speaking out about what matters to me

??I am working closer with my husband which is always a blast

??And of course, I am serving my audience - giving the people want they want. Or at least a few of you have asked for it lol

But there has been a problem.

Those who have been following me as I have tried to get this idea off the ground know it has been ridiculously slow.

I have been so used to writing content and not really thinking about it. With my Mission Led Content plan evolving with me, my message has grown but I have made the process really easy for myself.

However, trying to establish new platforms, routines and talking about completely new topics in a completely new way has been ... well ... time consuming.

But on Friday, we did it (which also means by sharing it on Monday it might already be out of date)

Here is what went wrong.

???? After debate, we decided on 3 hot news topics to discuss.

????We disagreed on how much prep should go into them

???? Nik won that disagreement because I didn't have the time or couldn't quite frankly be arsed to do all the research I felt I should have done

???? Imposter syndrome was massive - who am I to talk about this stuff publicly? Will someone call me out? (hence the fear about not doing enough research- see above)

???? We haven't invested in getting professional help because we don't want the pressure of taking it too seriously. We are playing and exploring. This feels right but does feed into the aforementioned imposter syndrome.

???? We are both short on time, so this playful approach only works if you have time to play. The result is the finished product doesn't have the finishing touches I want (no jingle for a start )

????We recorded three videos. The plan was to edit them together as a longer talk show then post individually throughout the week.... but I messed up the recordings on the last two. FFS

So what to do now?

I could let another week go by without publishing anything.

Or I could say fuck it.

Just publish the one we have. Imperfectly perfect.

It isn't what I am aiming for as a finished product but it is exactly where we are right now. I want to see this in a years time and cringe,

I want to see how far I've come.

What's more, I am happy enough with the content itself.

Nik and I discussed the inhumane Rwanda plan and Niks perspective was spot on (in my opinion obviously). As expected, we had a blast and it felt good working together.

Now we just need to keep taking next steps.

Don't worry, all this political stuff won't stop me teaching Mission Led Content, my Academy is open and my I am busy with a full diary of 121 clients.

I have a series of blogs, podcasts and you tube shorts nearly ready to go which are are all focused on giving practical value to ethical business owners.

But like I said, one step at a time.

So here it is.

The first big step.
