Tales From An Agent's Daughter
The Bright Lights of Baltimore
If you have been reading my blog this week, then you have noticed a theme. I thought it would be fun to write about landmarks and important places that I have visited or lived. Today, I would like to write about Baltimore. I only lived there for a very short time, but my parents now live about 30 miles north of the city, so I get there a lot.
Baltimore has a bad rap. Yes, there is a lot of crime and yes, there are neighborhoods that just should not look like they do. But, Baltimore has a rich history and there are some beautiful spots to visit. Established in 1729, Baltimore was a big part of the American Revolution and the Civil War. If you are interested in American history, then you definitely need to go to Fort McHenry in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Here, you will learn all about how this fort was used in these wars. Baltimore also has a rich history in shipping, as it sits on Chesapeake Bay, which leads to the Atlantic. Inner Harbor is a great place to go with boat rentals, trendy restaurants, and entertainment, especially in the summer.
Into sports? You will have to check out Camden Yards, home to the Baltimore Orioles and the Ravens. And, if you do decide to check this city out, make sure to go to the surrounding areas. Maryland is a beautiful state with majestic mountains on one side and ocean front resorts on the other. And don’t forget to order some crabs. There is nothing better than Maryland blue crab…..take my word for it!
