Tales From An Agent's Daughter
Moving On Up
For most of us, the dream of home ownership is a goal that we want to obtain. Owning a home is the American dream and for those of you that have lived in an apartment, owning a home is definitely something to achieve in your lifetime. My dad had that dream and he had it bad. After all, dad grew up in Camden, New Jersey in a small one-bedroom apartment. His parents (my grandparents) slept in the one room. Dad and his brother had to sleep in the living room. Oh, and did I mention that he had an uncle that stayed with them too. It had to have been a crowded nightmare.
Because of this, Dad worked hard to be able to buy a home for his family. We went from the city to the suburbs. I was in Kindergarten when we moved, so I don’t remember too much, but what I do remember is that my mom and dad were so proud of that house. Over the years, they had family and friends over a lot. Dad even built a beautiful bar in the basement, which he also rehabbed, and the parties were legendary. The funniest part of this story is that my parents never drank, but if you were downstairs at Dad’s bar, you would have the choice of only the best liquor. Imagine, a full bar in the home of people who didn’t drink!
Anyway, I grew up in that house, and even though, my mom and dad don’t own it anymore, it will always be an important part of my life. Sometimes, I miss that. But now, I have a house and know how hard I worked for it. Never take things for granted and always strive to achieve your dreams!!! Enjoy your Thursday and please comment below…..
