November 16th 2024, I went to watch a match in Breda in one of the youth leagues. To follow up on some interesting players.
NAC Breda U16 – FC Eindhoven U16 Half time 4-0, after 90 minutes 4-1 Kick-off 16-11-2024 12:30, Location ‘Sportpark Heksenwiel’
Match is played on artificial grass, temperature on the field was approximately 11 degrees Celsius dry, overcast and a slight breeze. Good conditions for a football match.
First half
The match started very unfortunate for FC Eindhoven, the first attack ended in a goal for NAC Breda B.V.. Maybe FC Eindhoven was not awake yet and would put their head up and get back to their game plan. They tried but NAC Breda B.V. kept the field tight and the pressure high and in the 11th minute NAC Breda B.V. scored the 2-0. Again FC Eindhoven continued to stick to their game plan. But it didn't work and NAC Breda B.V. Scored the 3-0 in the 16th minute.
After that the match was effectively over. So it was interesting to see how the players that I came to watch would handle this situation. It looked like NAC Breda B.V. was relaxing a bit though the trainer wanted them to keep the pressure on. Good to see the dynamic between the players and the trainer. And FC Eindhoven kept sticking to their plan, sometimes trying something with focus is better than changing to prevent a loss. What do you think? Just a few minutes later the 4-0 was scored and it was time to drink some tea and one of the midfielders had scored a hattrick.
Second half
The second half was much better by FC Eindhoven and this was due to substitutions made on both sides. Though it made the passing and zonal positioning more sloppy on the side of NAC Breda B.V.. The substitutions on the visitor's side strengthened their game. I did have a feeling the player's of FC Eindhoven were physically weaker and probably younger but their triangles and finding solutions was quite good developed in some players.
FC Eindhoven was creating more and more attacks and the lack of organization at the NAC Breda B.V. side was enabling them. In the 65th minute FC Eindhoven was awarded a free kick 20 meters in front of goal and it was converted into a goal. Nice free kick! After that goal NAC Breda B.V. made some substitutions to reorganize and the match was on an even playing field. Not much happened after that.
Overall
FC Eindhoven was physically not as well equipped as NAC Breda B.V. but they sticked to their intended plan with discipline. This created a good learning environment for the players. I had expected NAC Breda B.V. to push to a higher score but maybe because next week they have an important game they saved themselves. Although they could have used it as practice. The boys I came to see, at least one has made real progress and I saw a new interesting player to add to my database.
