Spotlight:

Talent Intelligence teams are not ringfenced from all the instability in the market at the moment. Sadly that means at times that some amazing Talent Intelligence individuals feel the impact of layoffs, closures, downsizing, rightsizing, restructuring. With that in mind I wanted to start a new section called Spotlight to highlight these individuals and make the market aware that they are looking at opportunities. With that in mind please meet Rachel.

Rachel Robleto a Business Analyst, Global Talent Intelligence at Meta, has worked in talent acquisition for nearly 7 years, concentrating the past 4 in talent intelligence. Before her work in talent acquisition, Rachel focused on conflict resolution, earning a Masters of Science from George Mason University's School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution.? After three years of practice working in a probate law office in Washington, DC, she turned her focus to resolving talent needs in human resources.? Rachel began her work in talent acquisition at Capital One, where she was a founding member of the Talent Acquisition Market Intelligence Team.? Initially focused on tech talent, the team branched out to cover all Capital One business areas and also provided talent data to partners in compensation and brand. In May 2022, Rachel made the move to Meta's Global Talent Intelligence team as a Business Analysis, where she used her previous expertise in LinkedIn Talent Insights (of which she was a top 2 company user at both Capital One and Meta) to help develop 30+ talent string aligned to Meta's tech talent profiles.? Unfortunately, as a new addition to the team, Rachel was part of the 11,000 laid off professionals in November 2022.? She is now looking for her next professional home where she can utilize her vast knowledge drawing talent insights from internal and external data sources and managing projects to help sourcers, recruiting leads, and cross-functional partners to identify top talent and drive business decisions.

• First off big news for the month, Gartner Agrees to Sell TalentNeuron to Leeds Equity Partners . This is a big next phase that will see Talent Neuron as it's own independant organisation.

• Fujitsu establishes new center in Israel to strengthen data and security technologies Fujitsu Limited revealed plans to open a new 10 person center for research and development in Tel Aviv, accelerating the recruitment of world-class talent to advance innovation in the field of Data and Security, an urgent priority for businesses and society in an era of increasing connectivity and uncertainty (thank you to the Draup team for flagging this to me)
• In the face of multiple high profile organisations having layoffs it is worth noting that one million California jobs remain open . The latest numbers show, there are 158 million people holding jobs in the U.S., approximately 18 million are in California, compared to 14 million at this time last year in the state.
• An interesting read from Goldman Sachs: Spiking Tech Layoffs Don’t Signal Impending Recession “Tech layoffs are therefore an unfortunate side effect of the growth slowdown and tighter financial conditions necessary to rebalance the broader labor market,” the researchers said, “but for now appear narrowly concentrated and are probably not indicative of labor market dynamic in other sectors.”?
• Amazon opens first global development centre in Wales . The new site in Swansea will be a hub where Veeqo, an ecommerce tech company Amazon acquired last year, builds tools for small businesses to grow and sell their products around the world
• Microsoft To Build A Power Station For Dublin Data Centre . Microsoft ?is to build its own power station as part of a new €900m data centre in Dublin, it has been reported. The gas-fired generator plan is because of worries about future constraints on the national energy grid
