Talent development Process for HR teams

Talent management process refers to; everything that is done to recruit, develop, retain, reward and making employees perform better. It’s the role of HR to implement the strategic talent management process within an organization. HR really plays an advisory and support role in the company. We don’t run the organizations but help the leaders to run the organizations. Research shows that there is 40% less employee turnover and 38% higher employee engagement in organizations which implemented strategic talent management process.
Talent development process involves following key steps
1. Assessment of Organizational goals and alignment with HR
Assessment of organization plays a key role and it includes knowing the organizational objectives, vision, mission and the priorities in proactive manner. After doing all this HR will have to play a role to define strategies in line with the vision and mission and proirties
2. Sourcing and Attracting the Talent
Talent is becoming scarce nowadays; to become competitive organization we need talent. So searching for people in line with the job description is main activity of human resources nowadays. HR teams are using sources like LinkedIn, virtual job fairs to source talent easily and despite the explosion of social networking sites like Linkedin and twitter, there are still lot of different ways to source talent. Significant amount of talent comes from internal candidates and through referrals. All those HR teams who are good in employer branding are always taking edge over others.
3. Recruiting and Selecting the Talent.
This is the stage where actually we test candidates through different assessment tools like written test, interview tests, and behavioral interviews and then recruit the top talent.
4. Employee Retention
After recruiting top talent we need to make best possible strategies to retain them; research shows that almost 51% of the employers have problem with employee retention. High salary hikes and incentives are not the only things we should do to retain our employees. We have to create opportunities for growth and give them the room for creativity. We have to focus more on employee relations and focus more on people oriented strategies.
5. Performance Appraisal
Assessing the performance of an employee is important to identify his or her true potential.
6. Promotion
To retain and keep them motivated, proactive HR teams identify the high performers proactively and gradually HR will promote them, so that they work with full enthusiasm and will become an asset for the organizations. By doing this we are providing employees an opportunity to grow professionally.
7. Succession Planning
To develop talent for future roles, succession planning is needed in every organization. Succession planning is developing and nurturing employees to become more competitive. It is necessary to prepare a list of all key positions and start nurturing talent accordingly.
