This article by Jeff and Christin which featured in HBR (Havard Business Review) , the most respected management journal in the world, echos and depicts how Mid Size firms struggle to hire Leaders that really would define the destiny of the company.

Instead, most Mid Size firms end up just 'filling the role' from whatever applicants they get in response to an outreach. This, leads to quick attrition, and dissatisfactory performance while the new hire was onboard.


Jeff and Christin describe the three weaknesses of Mid Size firms with regard to Talent, and suggest that companies should leverage their strengths to attract and retain leaders.

CEOs/ Managing Directors/ Founders could personally take it up on them to build a strong second level of management team by hiring functional heads who would steer the company to greater heights and be aligned with the culture ; rather than leave it for the HR teams to 'fill the role' at an 'appropriate cost'.


Overall, this article emphasizes that talent is much more crucial for a Mid size firm, and giving it the attention it deserves can lead to significant benefits for organizations.
