A Tale of Two Semesters: My Transformative Internship at Gates Corporation

A Tale of Two Semesters: My Transformative Internship at Gates Corporation

As I flip through the pages of my internship journey, I'm excited to share the seamless blend of two semesters at Gates Corporation, each contributing uniquely to my personal and professional growth. I wish to take a moment to reflect on my learnings and recount my journey thus far in the IT Intern - Master’s Program.?

Commencing the summer semester, an internship review presentation marked the beginning. Participating in a significant opportunity to present my project accomplishments to the CIO and the IT Leadership Team proved to be a remarkable experience. It quickly became evident that Executive presentations can be quite challenging, but I recognized their crucial role in career advancement. Currently, I am actively engaged with the IT Applications team in the process of selecting an Accounts Payable Invoice Automation tool for company-wide implementation. The project was initiated in the previous semester and is now progressing towards its successful completion.

During this summer semester, I dedicated my efforts to advancing the project through the Vendor Engagement phase. This involved tasks such as shortlisting vendors, collaborating with the IT sourcing team to deliver the Request for Proposal (RFP), and actively engaging vendors in tool demonstrations. Up to this point, my experience with the APIA tool selection has encompassed exposure to the following phases of the software implementation process:??

1. Strategic Mapping & Communication

2. Comprehensive Assessment & Analysis

3. Vendor Exploration & Evaluation

I am eagerly looking forward to exploring the remaining stages in the upcoming weeks.

The experience has been remarkably fulfilling, broadening my knowledge and skills in the field. My project achievements thus far owe a debt of gratitude to the unwavering support and guidance of my exceptional team, and I couldn't have asked for better supervisors - Mark McGrath and Bharath S. - who served as my mentors. Their continuous support, numerous learning opportunities, and constructive feedback have significantly enriched my experience at Gates. Special thanks to Yash Kotnis for consistently being a dependable team member and readily providing guidance whenever needed.?

I would also want to send a special thank you to George Sesi and Tim Hostman for including me in this incredible experience. Their steadfast commitment to creating a transformative internship program has left a lasting impact on my personal and professional growth.

I'm absolutely stoked about the incredible opportunities that lie ahead at Gates! Excited to embrace every chance to expand my skills and thrive professionally.
