A Tale of Two Johns
1st John
It was a Sunday morning. He quickly dashed to the supermarket for groceries and run some errands for the family. While going trough the isles he sighted one of the elements on the shopping list. He stretched to reach for it…but he never got there.
2nd John.
He’s been feeling some discomfort lately and went to see his doctor for a proper check-up. The look of consternation on Doctor Hope’s face said it all. His sugar level was on level 6 and body mass index was too much for his height. Dr hope gave another appointment for 3 months and detailed the changes expected, or 2nd John would be placed on diabetic control drugs.
He went home and decided on taking control of his health. 2nd John took the warning seriously. He changed his diet, went off fried and fatty foods and took exercising seriously. He started jogging 5 kilometres 4 times a week. By the time he went for the next doctor’s appointment, he had lost all of 23 kgs. His sugar level had dropped to 4.6 and his blood pressure down to 105/60.
1st John had a cardiac arrest. He didn’t make it to the hospital.

Make out time for your health!
Of course, one should first consult with one’s doctor—I think that is important and should always be emphasized….in case, one has a condition that may not make such advise practical in their specific case…
The critical factors are EXERCISE, DIET and WEIGHT CONTROL.
- EXERCISE: Average of about 150 minutes weekly.
- DIET: Healthier, nutritious food options, small portions/sizes, with minimum or zero ADDED SUGAR nor SALT.
- WEIGHT: Should be down to the ideal weight for one’s height for a male or a female.
