Danny Collins @Dannyfcollins on Threads and Instagram have put together a very important outline of what being a convicted felon means for him vis-a-vis the convicted felon that is the 45th President of the USA.
Danny's words are very important to share, to dispel the myth of the 45th President getting the same treatment as an ordinary person in the court of law.
A banana republic is one where the judgement of courts are not accepted when you lose in Court, a banana republic is one where ex Presidents who get all the special treatment in the world including from the Supreme Court screams about how everyone is treating him unfairly, a banana republic is one where jurors who do their job will live the rest of their lives in fear of harassment and death.
So without much ado, here are the words of Danny Collins the convicted felon.
" If as a convicted felon, Donald Trump is allowed to campaign and be President of the United States of America, then I should be allowed to be a doctor, a lawyer, a dentist, any professional that I want to be. As a convicted felon, I should not be relegated to only the trades and blue collar work.
Nothing against it, but I should be allowed to be a professional just like Donald Trump.
As a convicted felon, I should not be relegated to live in only certain neighborhoods or have background checks to live in neighborhoods with HOAs or gated communities.
If Donald Trump can live in the White House is a convicted felon, the most secure, protected, and gated community in all the world, then I should be allowed to live in any neighborhood I want to.

As a convicted felon, I'm about to get a certification, which requires schooling for me to be a peer specialist to work through the Department of Children and Families here in the state of Florida. But part of that requirement, I have to have an exemption to be waived by the state of Florida as a convicted felon. And part of this application process requires me to have character references. If I have to have these, then Donald Trump should have them too. President of the United States of America is the most prestigious job in all the world.
If Donald Trump can be a convicted felon and be president and hold that position, then there's no reason why I can't be anything that I want to be.
We claim to be a country of rules, we claim to be a country of law and order, we claim to be a country of second chances. Now's our time to prove it."
Thank you Danny for sharing your life experience of what it means to be an 'ordinary' convicted felon.
Democracy works when those with the highest office held is held accountable for illegal conduct.
