A Tale of Downfall
A true story of the MNC in Pakistan
Once upon a time there was an organization in Pakistan which is thriving in the country with an aggressive growth in terms of market share, bottom line and people. They have multiple production facilities with over 500+ employees working in executive and non-executive capacities.
The leadership team had a vision and kept each individual motivated towards the common goal. Employees were even comfortable to work on lower then market wage as the culture provide them the feeling of home and give them potential to grow. Mistakes were taken as learnings and people were given room to make them. This resulted in many new business opportunities, operation excellence and HR optimizations.
Investments in the country was in discussion with the parent organization and smaller expansions already been made. People were at the core of the overall strategy and were valued to drive the organization forward into the future.
Fast Forward, came a time when out of different circumstances the leadership left the organization and new management imported from outside. The only people remain on top from the previous organization are those who were not competent professionally and kept people at the least priority (self-centered, short sighted and the goal is how to make themselves rich). The new management from outside also ranked PEOPLE on least priority.
Down the line 04 years from the change, all the resources who had vision, will and competence to take the organization forward left. Management didn't even spoke to them once (as they treat people like a commodity). No empathy shown as the top management only comprise of bosses and managers.

THE IMPACT; investments rolled back, no expansion, no innovation, organization shrank to a distributor of less then 30 people, moved to smaller office, no growth, wrong people for wrong jobs (bias hiring, mostly relatives), product line narrowed down to only commodities... all this and much more in just a span of 04 years.
REMEMBER; Every component of your business is associated with PEOPLE. The moment you take them for granted be ready for that support or operation function to be impacted. The moment you let those competency move out of your organization to competition you are losing your edge in market...!!
Make teams that lasts, give them respect, trust them and let them explore... You will witness miracles.
Don't trust them, micromanage, don't respect them... and you will end up in the worse situation you can't even imagine..!!
