Takko Fashion x Summit Vision 2045: Short Interview & Conclusion
Why was it so important to Takko Fashion to participate at Summit Vision 2045?????
Radek Sorcik: On the one hand, we were keen to share Takko Fashion's successful measures and CSR activities – particularly with regard to compliance with social standards in our production facilities. This allowed us to show that even a fashion company with discount processes and structures can contribute to sustainable improvement in the textile industry.
On the other hand, we were very interested in the activities, innovations and ideas of the other participating companies and open to exchanges from which we can take away inspirations, insights and learnings for our future plans.
Which panel discussion did Takko Fashion participate in and what were our key messages?
Karl-Heinz Holland: Our panel discussion was dedicated to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 8. The exchange therefore focused on fair working conditions along the value chain and sustainable economic growth in our production countries.
These two aspects go hand in hand for Takko Fashion and are a prerequisite for us to be successful in the market: By advocating for fair and good working conditions at our suppliers in Asia, we can simultaneously support the factories in increasing their productivity and efficiency – which leads to long-term economic growth. And in the best case, not just in one factory, but with all our suppliers and ultimately in the entire industry. Compliance with social standards in the production countries and the continuous improvement of local working conditions is in our DNA: It forms the cornerstone for our customers in Europe to be able to buy attractive, high-quality fashion from us at reasonable prices – and with a clear conscience.

Takko Fashion's role as one of Europe's biggest fashion discount retailers is also accompanied by a responsibility of which we are very aware: Over the past ten years, we have made enormous progress, particularly through our collaboration with the Fair Wear Foundation, and have steadily improved working conditions in our production facilities. But we also know that we have not yet reached the end of our journey, even though we are already operating at a high level within the scope of social compliance standards.?
In the future, we also want to expand our commitment in the context of environment and sustainability. Partnerships with other NGOs and stakeholders are just as essential to achieving our goals as exchanges with other companies.
What impressed you most about Summit Vision 2045 and what are your learnings?
Radek Sorcik: I am still fascinated by the commitment of the companies involved. It's great to see how much passion goes into ideas and concrete projects to steer the world in a more positive direction – that gives us hope for the future, to which we also want to make a sustainable contribution by expanding our activities.
Karl-Heinz Holland: Our participation at Summit Vision 2045 has encouraged me to build on our previous activities and develop them further. Above all, partnerships and collaboration are key to long-term change, which we can only achieve together.
