Planning to take your career to the next level in the New Year? It’s that time of year again, this is the perfect time to look to the coming year and start thinking about dusting off your resolution list - your resume - and get ready to take your career to the next level in 2016.
The information below will provide you with useful tips and guidance on how to plan ahead.
No human being out of the 7.1 billion on earth today is a mistake. You were not created for entertainment or beauty; even though all things have their unique beauty.
One of the keys to lasting happiness is the sense of usefulness, service and significance.
1. DISCOVERING YOUR REAL PURPOSE
There are some things deposited in you from birth which requires little or no education to function excellently. It is your duty to discover them and develop them. Doing what you are wired to do make your happiness and growth in life predictable and sustainable.
Here’s what to do:
- Take out a blank sheet of paper or open up a word processor where you can.
- Write at the top, “What is my true purpose in life?”
- Write an answer (any answer) that pops into your head. It doesn’t have to be a complete sentence. A short phrase is fine.
- Repeat step 3 until you write the answer that makes you cry. This is your purpose.
It's never too late to disengage from goals that have become zombie projects. Go back to the drawing board to gather enough idea and strength for the year ahead.
2. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Self development is a lifelong process. It's a way for people to assess their skills and qualities, consider their aims in life and set goals in order to realise and maximise their potential.
To take your career to the next level, it is important to improve yourself by taking on activities that enhances your employment skills and increase consciousness. The growing success of the self-help and personal development movement has assisted many businesses in obtaining more qualified and motivated personnel for their companies.
Self development improves your standard of living, your overall influence and relevance in your field.
3. EDUCATION
We live in a time saturated by information therefore no one has an excuse to stay ignorant. The same way you feed your physical body to grow and increase in capacity is the same way the mind and heart needs to be educated to function optimally. Just as a bird without wings can't fly so is a soul without education.
You need to improve on your career skills and enhance them by searching out
those who do better than you in your field. Google scholar, YouTube and the rest are all free avenue to develop yourself in your career. Formal education will make you a living; self education will make you a fortune.
4. CHARACTER
Your character is what determines your destiny in your career or destination, not the color of your skin or who your parents are. Character is evidenced by your life’s virtues and the “line you never cross.” Character is the most valuable thing you have, and nobody can ever take it away.
Character in life is what makes people believe in you and is essential both for individual success and for our society to function successfully. Each individual must do his or her part every day by living a life of integrity.
People of character do the right things not because they want to change the world, rather because they refuse to be changed by the world.
5. RESPECT
One of the ways to take your career to the next level is being respectful. Respect is hard to earn and harder to keep when earned. It's one of the most valuable commodities in the business world.
The best way to earn respect is to do good work, but there are other behaviours and habits you must exhibit if you want to be on the best possible terms with those you work with and answer to in your chosen field.
Make good on a promise. Anyone can promise anything they want. It takes a real professional to actually deliver on that promise. It's better to always use the under promise and over deliver approach in business. First, never promise more than you can actually do, by doing this, you will deliver more than you said you would and that will make you reliable and fun to work with.
I hope you found this useful.
