Taking Time to Heal: A Personal Reflection

Today would have been my mother's 72nd birthday. Her unexpected passing a month ago left a void that words can hardly describe. In the aftermath, I could not write my weekly articles despite my attempts. I didn't have the will or the clarity in my mind to do so. This weekend, I tried to push through, to summon the strength to write. In my entire life, I have been taking every step, pushing harder, and going faster. Just pushing through it a bit longer so I can get through the next hurdle. However, now, I realize I need to learn that slowing down is okay. I need time to heal and mourn.
I realize now that I need to slow down. It's a reminder that it's okay not to always be strong and recognize moments of weakness. Healing takes time, and it’s essential to honor that process.
I wanted to share this to inspire you to reflect on your own life. Are you pushing yourself too hard? Do you need time to heal? If so, give yourself permission to take that time.
Earlier last week, I shared a quote from Steve Jobs when he said: "Your time is limited." While I didn't need my mother's passing to learn that lesson, it has certainly made it more urgent for me to internalize it and act accordingly. Our time is limited. Sometimes, it is needed to take a step back before you can leap forward.
So now, I choose to pay attention to myself and mourn. The articles will come, but for now, it’s time for healing.
Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt message. Taking time to reflect and prioritize well-being is crucial, especially during difficult times. Balancing personal health with professional responsibilities is something many of us can relate to. How do you find ways to ensure you’re taking care of yourself amidst daily pressures?

5 个月Hi Luciano, I’m so sorry for your loss. I support your time away to heal and take care of yourself. My dad passed away early last year, my mom in 2019 - the grief is immense, nothing prepares you for losing your parents. So I took a step back and stepped away to grieve, heal, focus on self care. It has been a gift to be able to do it. Wishing you peace at this sad time.
