Taking Stock
As the new year begins, so does the chorus of goal setting and resolutions. Maybe there is nothing inherently wrong about this process; however, I think there is another way to start the new year. Maybe a more powerful one: taking stock.
Rather than starting the new year by setting a bunch of goals or resolving to change something about my life, I decided to stock of what I have in my life now. I decided to count my blessings. Here is a condensed list:
- I have this next breath I am about to take.
- I have the love of my two children, my family and my friends.
- I have immense opportunities and possibilities surrounding me because of the amazing things that other people are making.
- I have an incredible group of people I've met over the years who are always willing to help me and to invest in me.
- I have problems that push me to improve, learn and grow.
Unlike any other time in recent human history, we are surrounded by abundance beyond measure. I am so grateful for living now.
