Taking our own sweet time...
First ever Iris Photo in the Empire State Building. I wanted to steal the mug! (But I didn't)

Taking our own sweet time...

My sister-in-law sent me this text a few weeks ago. "Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go." - William Feather. I like to think this describes me in some way. It certainly does this week.

January 26th, 2017 I flew to New York for a meeting at the Empire State Building. It was a meeting with LinkedIn, the very company that inspired me to create Iris Booth. A company largely responsible for the growth in demand for professional head shots. It used to be, just 10 years ago, that only C-level executives and real estate agents had head shots; now my plumber has a LinkedIn profile featuring a professional photo.

A year and a half ago, as I entered the Empire State Building, I was excited and nervous and star struck. I stopped by the security desk to get a pass to enter the building and that pass remains displayed next to my monitor where I see it every day. It has been part of my inspiration board, so to speak.

Six hundred and six days later I returned to the same security desk but this time to deliver Iris Booth. And I got a new pass!

Sometimes big things take a bit longer to achieve. This is one of those times. On Monday of this week, thanks in large part to Christine Cafiso's efforts, Iris Booth installed a unit in the LinkedIn Executive Centre on the third floor of the Empire State Building, 606 days after that initial meeting! I'm happy I never gave up, I'm proud of my determination and I'm thrilled to have such amazing clients.

Proud to say my photo is from one of your booths at NSCC. I am proud to be an alumni from NSCC as well, you are inspiring those by your determination alone. Thank you.
