Taking the helm of KPMG’s New York office
Yesenia Scheker Izquierdo
New York Office Managing Partner and New York Market Hub Leader
Stepping into the role of New York office managing partner and New York market hub leader, I am honored to lead our professionals, serve our clients, drive our growth and strategy, and represent our firm in this dynamic market. I take the responsibility seriously of leading our firm’s largest market and am humbled to work with such an incredible team.
I have spent my career driving diversity, equity and inclusion and I am proud to represent our firm as both the first woman and the first person of Latinx origin to hold the role. I hope to inspire other women and underrepresented talent to start and build their careers at KPMG.
While I grew up in Miami, New York City (NYC) is my home. It’s where I was born, where I feel most alive and the most me. I’ve shared all my significant life moments here over the past two decades. It’s where I’ve built my career and where my husband and I chose to raise our three beautiful children.
There is never a moment I don’t think about the profound impact NYC has made on me and all who live here. As we face the challenges to overcome this complex and at times uncertain period, I know we will all work together to revitalize NYC and ensure it always remains one of the most vibrant cities in the world. NYC has been tested many times, but strong, determined New Yorkers always carry us through, making NYC the most resilient city I know.
NYC life and New Yorkers’ perseverance are hard to grasp unless you live here – it’s what I always think of as a New York state of mind. This recent NYCNext video captures, in the most resounding way I have ever seen, the beauty and resiliency of New York which is forever engraved in my mind and on my heart.

I’m often asked about KPMG’s priorities in our current environment. We face many of the same challenges our clients face. While leading their organizations through the ongoing uncertainty of the pandemic, CEOs are also striking the delicate balance of driving growth, while leaning into their corporate purpose and values to drive action on environmental, social and government (ESG) and digital strategies; and building cyber and supply chain resiliency. KPMG U.S. Chair and CEO, Paul Knopp highlighted this in his monthly newsletter, The U.S. CEO Outlook.
At KPMG, we are focused on our culture, the well-being and development of our people, and building more diverse and inclusive teams. KPMG continues to provide hybrid ways of working that give our people the flexibility they need to manage their personal and professional responsibilities. I am personally committed to providing a welcoming and purposeful environment for all 6,500 people in our New York Hub.?
Assuming this role during a time of significant transformation for our clients and our firm is an enormous responsibility that will no doubt have successes and challenges. I received advice early in my career that it is important to be resilient. I always strive to meet challenges head on and rely on my optimistic and positive nature to find balance and determination to see them through. I have the opportunity and responsibility to bring this philosophy to our New York office and market – to work with our professionals, our community, and our clients as we tackle the challenges and opportunities ahead as resilient New Yorkers!
I?NY. Resilient. Ready. Always in a #NewYorkStateofMind!
