Taking a Detour

Just a couple days into 2020, and I'm starting to enjoy going back through my content from a year ago, re-reading it, making sure it's Still Relevant, then repurposing it here for you to take in again (or for the first time).
Below is an article I wrote while reflecting after the relatively boring Super Bowl between the Rams and Patriots. :)

2019 is off to a bang in my world. Anything can happen, but right now, things are going really well.
2018 brought some unexpected (and uncomfortable) twists and turns, and it seems I’m not alone in that experience, but 1 month down in 2019, and it’s clear that I could not be having this awesome experience right now without having gone through some tough things last year.
It got me thinking about our dreams and the path that we take to get there. We are not entirely in control of the path, but we are in control of how we prepare for what we will encounter on the path. If we don’t quit, we eventually may get to see our dreams come true. If we quit, there’s no shot.
It’s ok if we take a detour. It’s a rare life that won’t be required to take one. Just don’t let the detour somehow confuse you on where you were going. If you have a goal, stay focused on it through the expected shifts and be patient with yourself. You’ll get back to a familiar road soon enough, and when you do, you’ll be stronger and wiser with the knowledge of a different route that you didn’t know (or want to know) before.
Lots of value in those detours…
