Taking Control One Step at a Time

I contemplated for months whether or not to launch a newsletter. This may not be your typical career newsletter or what you expect from me. I do ask myself if I really have the bandwidth to keep this up? I have a corporate career, I operate my CareerTALKS Podcast. I am once again taking on coaching clients, I am hosting in-person career events to help professionals. I am asked to speak for a variety of institutions and companies. Also, as some know a father of six girls and a husband. WOOSAH!

Why continue to add to my plate? It's because I choose to take control one step at a time. A lot of us may share the same goals, dreams, passions and desires in some form or fashion. Be successful (self-defined) be healthy, happy and of good service to others. Our career paths are not linear, and it's not always tied to climbing the corporate ladder but rather building our own ladder.

I am someone who is driven by impact. What impact can I make when I encounter someone, speaking at an event, hosting a podcast, writing a career planner. What is the end result we look forward to in our career choices? Is it a C-level the position or is it entrepreneurship? Maybe a combination of both. Do we even know? Needless to say, however you look at it. It is your career to craft, develop, manage and explore. No one can put limits on your goals.

What talents and gifts are we allowing to lie dormant? What antiquated mindset are we holding on to due to past experiences? Every non-decision is a decision. Lastly, I will leave you with these two quotes. "Commit first and figure out the rest later" and "Get comfortable taking imperfect action."

I hope this resonates with you and you subscribe for more rants from the "It's Your Career" newsletter.

Continue Success

Thank you Orlando, I know my strengths lie in exactly what you preach. I also teach and preach a Marathon mindset on how to make a difference and keep going. It starts with realizing you have so much untapped potential. Time to start using it!
