Taking a Closer Look at the MarTech Landscape

At many of the marketing conferences I attend, people always show that MarTech landscape chart in their presentations. The chart, created by Scott Brinker, shows the +7000 different technologies used by marketers. It's pretty overwhelming and as someone who wears glasses, its' really hard to read.
Nevertheless, as a self-proclaimed "marketing geek", I wanted to understand all of these different solutions. So, I took a magnifying glass to the landscape. What I found, was pretty interesting.
I started by zooming into the Marketing Automation & Campaign/Lead Management category and guess who I found? Waldo! Standing there right next to MailChimp. I wonder what the Waldo software does?
As I moved into the Content Marketing section, I noticed a familiar face sandwiched between Content Studio and Percolate. It's Lebron James! What's he doing here?
Then in the Social Media Marketing & Monitoring section, I noticed a bright red object sitting there next to SalesForce. Wow, it's a "Make American Great Again" hat! How did that get on here?
In the Ecommerce Marketing section, a blue logo caught my eye. Upon closer inspection, it's Cookie Monster! I guess it makes sense with all the "cookies" we deal with in the digital marketing world.
Finally, in Advertising & Promotion, who do I see right under Adlib? It's Megan Rapinoe celebrating her goal vs. France. Bring home the World Cup Megan!
So, that's what I found on my journey into the MarTech Landscape. The question is, what did I miss?

5 年Amazing but also frightening considering that much of this growth can be attributed to VC money with many companies not really on their own feets. Dare if the markets slow down or money supply gets scarce...

5 年Wow! You know the landscape is too crowded when the graphic designer can slide in so many "Easter eggs". Cookie Monster is my favorite. Speaking of which, have you heard him on Waze lately ;)
