?The philosophy behind this article is simple - our actions are ultimately driven by our thoughts. In English, we often speak of "thoughts, words and deeds." The same idea is expressed in Sanskrit as "Manasa, Vacha, Karmana" and in Tamil as "Ennam, Sol, Seyal."
A Sanskrit sloka (verse) indicates that a "Mahatma" (great person) is one whose thoughts (Manas), words (Vachas) and Deeds (Karma) are centered on 'Unity'.
This also has the connection to the commonly expressed adage of 'Talk your thought, walk your Talk'.
There has been exploration about the linkage between?this?and effectiveness in leadership.
This ancient wisdom holds the key to sustainable business success.?
As the leader of a business, whether as an owner, C-suite executive, founder or co-founder, your mind-set and thought processes have an outsized impact. After all, "as is the leader, so is the team"
- ?a team is only as good as its leader!
?
When you approach challenges and opportunities with a positive, solution-oriented mind-set, your entire organisation will feel the effects. Conversely, if you're plagued by negativity, fear and scarcity thinking, that toxic energy will spread throughout the organisation.
Quite often, business leaders get caught in the day-to-day grind and lose sight of this fundamental truth.
There are some others, who are busy fire-fighting handing the past mistakes, at the cost of growth and future of the business.
They focus solely on the bottom line, the next quarter's results, or the immediate crisis at hand. While operational excellence is important,
true sustainable success comes from first taking care of your own mind.
?
By cultivating mindfulness, self-awareness and positive mental habits, you can transform your business from the inside out. It's not about meditation for meditation's sake, but rather intentionally shaping your inner landscape to be a powerful force for good.
This means that the change in the mind of the business owner will reflect in the internal management which will impact the performance of the organisation.
A brief conversation about whom we call as leaders; who can make the change, may better be clearly understood here and now!
·A good Leader helps their team understand the need for change and how and why roles and responsibilities may be impacted.
The leader manages the challenges experienced during times of uncertainty and they ensure team synergy is revitalised and re-skilling occurs. They clearly communicate all changes and their associated impacts, and?calm?the fears so often brought on by change.
There is also an important element to be considered here. Many business owners or C-suite executives may be donning the role of a leadership, but, the leadership qualities in them may have to be polished. Awareness of this and continuous learning to improve self is the key to the change or transformation.
?
Let's explore some real-world examples that illustrate the power of this approach:
?When Satya Nadella took over as CEO of Microsoft in 2014, the company was in a state of stagnation. Instead of doubling down on Windows and Office, Nadella shifted the company's mind-set towards cloud computing, AI and a mobile-first strategy. This "growth mind-set" allowed Microsoft to regain its innovative edge and emerge as a cloud computing juggernaut.

?An example that illustrates that when leaders prioritise their own mental well-being and mind-set development, the positive ripple effects on their organisations can be profound.
But how exactly can you put this into practice?
?
?
2. Next, establish practices to nurture a positive, empowered mind-set. This could include morning routines, visualisation exercises, gratitude practices or any number of other tools. The key is to intentionally shape your inner landscape, not just react to external circumstances.
?
3. You can also tap into the power of community. Surround yourself with like-minded peers who will challenge and support you. Consider joining a mastermind group or CEO roundtable where you can share experiences and learn from each other.
?
Finally, remember that mind-set work is an ongoing journey, not a one-time fix.
4. Be patient and compassionate with yourself as you navigate the ups and downs. Celebrate small wins, learn from setbacks, and stay committed to your personal growth.
?
The payoff for this investment of time and energy can be immense. When you take care of your mind, your business will naturally follow. With the right thoughts, your words and deeds will align to drive breakthrough results.
?
Don't just take my word for it. Here are some inspiring quotes from business leaders and thinkers who have embraced this philosophy:
?
"The world we have created is a product of our thinking; it cannot be changed without changing our thinking." - Albert Einstein
?
"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't - you're right." - Henry Ford
?
The choice is yours. Will you continue to get caught up in the day-to-day grind, or will you step back and invest in the most important asset you have - your own mind-set?
Make the decision to take care of your mind, and watch your business thrive as a result.
