Taking care of your health and well-being
During the past few months, a lot of people have been battling frustration and anxiety, and some have also lost their jobs. This Covid pandemic crisis is very difficult for most people for numerous and different reasons. We have all been forced to adjust to this "new normal", but might now feel like we're running out of steam. There seems to be recurring in phases and waves.
This crisis is global and there is nowhere to run. It is OK and normal to adapt, struggle or feel frustrated even anxious. We've already re-learned how to work at home, do groceries, host meetings, and even teach classes. And we have found new and creative ways to be happy and have fun. But as the days start to drag on, we need to be ready to persevere and innovate again.
How are you coping this pandemic? Hopefully you are facing the challenges well. Of course, there are things you have to do, like working, cooking, shopping, exercising, socializing and relaxing. But just don't expect to be extremely motivated, innovative or happy in the middle of this crisis. There are things that you can do to take care of your health and well-being. First of all, wear your masks and observe social distancing, as well as the public health instructions in your communities. Read an interesting and inspiring book. Go for a walk at a nearby park. Take a drive in the country side. Spend some time practicing yoga and meditation. Help others who are worse off than you and need support for their struggles.
Take care of your physical health by eating healthy food, exercise regularly and sleep restfully. You can strengthen your emotional and mental health by nurturing your self-esteem and positive attitude. This can be achieved by practicing self-care, gratitude, kindness, serving others and counting your blessings. Volunteer your time at your local food bank or any other charities you support. Check up on your friends and others in need to get through this pandemic. In case you or your loved ones are suffering from anxiety, depression or any other mental health issues, please contact your local Mental Health Association for help and assistance.
You have already navigated this global crisis and disaster for more than 6 months, with resourcefulness, courage and innovation. You have already found new ways to live, work, and entertain yourselves under these challenging conditions. This is hard proof that you have what it takes to keep going. There is no need to despair, rather you need to think that things will be back to normal in the near future.
