Taking A Break

Last week, my family and I took advantage of the four-day holiday weekend and got away to Estes Park, Colorado. After sprinting through the first four months of my role, it was a welcome respite, and the mountain air didn't hurt much, either.

Every time I (force myself to) take one, I'm reminded that I need to do so more often. Sometimes, you don't realize how much clarity you need until it appears right in front of you. It's also not lost on me that this is not the first time I've typed this sentiment in one of these pieces.

Amid that clarity, I finally came to a decision that I've been wrestling with for quite some time (actually one of several floating around my brain), and I'm going to pause my weekly publishing.

This article represents the 456th consecutive Sunday on which I've pressed "publish" in some way, shape, form, or platform, and that doesn't include more than 1000 podcast episodes that have come out over the years in between. Nine years is a long time, and I've really struggled with maintaining "the streak" as a means of discipline and keeping me honest.

But then the voice inside me says, "Honest to what? What's the purpose behind your publishing? Why are you so worried about a content creation streak? Is it really valuable to you, or is it just something you stubbornly do?"

The brutally honest answers to those questions aren't completely clear. I'm not on a mission to gain a following. The world doesn't need more content for content's sake. Regarding discipline, this weekly piece certainly isn't the only thing holding me together!

While keeping the streak alive has not been a distraction for me, I feel like the value I've been providing my network hasn't been as sharp recently. I've got priorities in other places, and they're pretty clear. Building a world-class sales organization is more than a full-time job, which means there are limited resources for everything outside of that. Coming to terms with that means coming to terms with "the streak."

I've been vocal about the fact that writing has been the single greatest sales weapon in my arsenal, and no single thing I've done in my career has built my skillset up more than this. So let me be clear: while you won't be able to expect a weekly article or video from me, that doesn't mean I'm going to stop writing. It just means that most of that writing will be for me, not for public consumption.

Now, I pose the same question to you: When was the last time you took a break and found some clarity? What kind of insights did that clarity allow or create the space for? What decisions did it enable? How did you feel when you made them?

Thanks for being here. Some of you have been here every week for almost nine years. That's not lost on me, and I have more gratitude for that than you can possibly realize. While this newsletter won't be published next week, you can bet that you haven't heard the last of me. ??

Cheers,

JB

Jeff, Thank you for all the nuggets. I have learned so much from you, your Sunday posts, and your Clear Vision coaching. Tomorrow I will start a new position with a new Title company. I am excited to write a new chapter.

Taking a break recently allowed me to reassess our lead generation strategies, Jeff Bajorek. It led to more targeted outreach and higher quality appointments, ultimately scaling our LinkedIn efforts effectively. The clarity was empowering and reaffirmed our approach.

The more I think about this, the more of love it. This one will continue to come back to me as inspiration. The reflection I've had since reading on Sunday has been sensational. Jeff Bajorek , thank you for your service. Enjoy it all.
