Taking Baby Steps toward Change
Change can be scary but if we break up our goals into small baby steps it takes away the fear, reduces the feelings of stress and being overwhelmed. Action helps us to move forward and not get stuck. Let’s get started in creating the life we want by starting with small baby steps. There are many things in our life we have no control over, if we try to change those things, we will get frustrated. Instead focus on the things you have power over.
All of the areas below are in our control. Start with one of the things listed below. This will start the momentum toward change
- What you eat and drink- when you eat, what you eat, avoid GMO and anything that starts with sugar. Drink plenty of water throughout your day.
- Exercise routine- if you are just starting an exercise routine, keep it simple and walk. Walk 3-4 times a week for 20 minutes.
- Personal and/or professional development- we are happier when we are learning. Take a new class, read a new book, etc.
- Sleep hygiene- go to bed around the same time every night and wake up around the same time every morning, keep your room, cool and dark.
- Morning routine - our morning routine creates a successful day. Have some rituals that you do every morning that set you up for success such as meditation, healthy breakfast, going for a walk, visualization, gratitude, journal writing, etc.
- How I treat others? It’s so important to treat each person with kindness and respect but this also means treating yourself with kindness and respect.
- What I say - think before I speak.
- Mindfulness- being mindful of your surroundings and your thoughts
- Who I spend my time with - moods/emotions are contagious. Spend time with people who lift your moods
- How grateful you are- ask yourself what are 2-3 things you are grateful for each day?
- Your social media intake- what you watch, Listen to, etc.
Work on you, take baby steps and start to see the positive changes in your life.
