it takes a village to build a career
I'm noticing more frequently posts about when someone is laid off... they let their network know, they post status updates, and they find a position quicker.
"Networking is vital for those who want to?move up in their career. According to HubSpot, 85% of jobs are filled through networking. In fact, according to?CNBC, 70% of jobs are never published publicly.?
These jobs are either posted internally or are created specifically for candidates that recruiters meet through networking. According to?LinkedIn, 70% of professionals hired in 2016 had a connection at their company, and 80% of professionals consider networking vital to their career success.?
Though it’s possible to get a job by simply sending your resume aimlessly to job boards and postings, these statistics clearly show that networking is the best way to create a successful career and maintain?job satisfaction." ~Apollo Technical*
Seventy percent of jobs are never published publicly!!
That's kind of incredible. If you just look at job postings, you're missing 70% of the positions available.
The other aspect to this beyond just finding your next job is moving up in your career. Getting to interact with others in your niche/industry to find out what you want to do, where you want to go, how much you can expect to make...
And also -- how to do your current job better. And on that note, I've been compiling information about some of the communities in the RIA space around these topics.
Stay tuned to the end for my #1 tip on networking and finding a job.

#1 Tip on Networking to find a Job
Use a CRM.
Using the steps I shared in this newsletter, make a list of the companies (and contacts) you are reaching out to and add them to your CRM. I recommend Less Annoying CRM . It's free for 30 days, then $15/mo.
And believe it or not, it's delightful to use:
For a 2nd free month, use my affiliate link, and I'll get a free month too.
Once you've added the companies you'd like to work for, track them as leads and start scheduling informational interviews. Create tasks to follow up, add appts and interviews to the calendar, and have fun! Less Annoying CRM will make your job search less annoying too.
