"It Takes a Lot More for Successful Projects, Beyond Talented WORKFORCE"

Recently, I came across a video on the internet picturing a conversation between Pencil factory workers and the owner. The workers, rightly proud of their role in crafting a pencil, claimed ownership of the profit, arguing that their hands were the creators.?
The owner, however, gently reminded them that a pencil's journey, much like any project, is far more intricate than just inserting lead (probably workers' job). It's setting up a factory, buying machines, maintaining them, hiring workers, managing costs, and so on.?
He pointed out that it's not just about the product creation; it's the orchestration of an entire symphony.
This conversation stirred up an inspiration in me to write this article. The above concept fits and can be identified in almost any industry or business. When talking of Software development - coding or actual development is just one piece of the whole puzzle, where the other pieces also need to be put in place to bring the entire picture (projects) to life.??
As said earlier, these pieces are hiring and nurturing talent, setting up the working infrastructure, administration activities, keeping up with the broader scope, and much more.?
In Software development, coding is just one piece of the whole puzzle.
Going any further, let me clear myself first. This article is not about pointing out anyone's contribution or ignoring their efforts but acknowledging that much more happens behind the scenes.
It's not about pointing out anyone's contribution or ignoring their efforts but acknowledging that much more happens behind the scenes.
Let's get to the theories that further justify the entrepreneur's paradigm.?
"Bad Days" Theory
Picture a sailor navigating through favorable tides, embracing the good days. Yet, when tempests strike, the survival of the ship doesn't solely hinge upon the sailor's skill. It's the wisdom and guidance of the captain that sees them through.?
Similarly, in the agency world, successful project deliveries aren't just about employees and team leads excelling in fair weather. There are storms like looming deadlines, resource constraints, team conflicts, and perhaps other unanticipated hurdles that need to be addressed by an owner.
"Risk & Rewards" Relationship Theory
This is the standard business principle that the larger the risk involved, the more potential the rewards will be. Entrepreneurs shoulder multifaceted risks when starting and growing their businesses. This is why attributing profit to employees might seem like an oversimplification of entrepreneurs' efforts.?
"Combined Efforts" Theory
Imagine a vetted team without the necessary tools or infrastructure — conversely, a well-equipped setup without skilled minds. Either way, alone, they might falter.?
Therefore, It's the combination of the right talent, adept management, client acquisition, and robust infrastructure that propels successful project deliveries and fuels overall growth.
The Moral Of the Story?
Success is never a solo performance. So, let's not isolate credit but celebrate the collective effort that propels us to deliver better solutions.
