The Asia Cup 2022 was initially to be played in Sri Lanka and was then relocated to UAE, which was a success story for Dubai destination. This relocation provided an opportunity for Dubai to welcome some of the greatest teams and players. Showcasing unparalleled capacity and know-how when it comes to welcoming major international sports events in record time. Dubai is a brilliant platform for cricket fans to enjoy not only a head to head match but also a family reunion with large communities from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong. Al Habtoor City Hotel Collection was the preferred hospitality choice when it comes to welcoming almost all the teams, including the Asia Cup 2022 winners Sri Lanka. Running operations in a hotel isn’t easy. Hotel management and operations is complex with many intertwining stakeholders and dependencies. All included need to have great time management, problem solving skills and able to play different roles. A housekeeping employee can go from cleaning a room to handling a plumbing emergency in a span of a minute. A perfect example of this is Prabhakar Khandagale , Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City’s senior housekeeping manager. Prabhakar went beyond his call of duty, on his off days too, to anticipate any requests that came across from the teams and managed to solve any issue in the span of minutes without hesitation, while being off ground.?

A special shout out to the below teams in making the stay comfortable, flawless and extraordinary:?

First let’s appreciate our events team, especially Sudhindra Yadhati , who were on ground from day one of check in to the last day of check out for each team. Made sure their dietary requirements were met by liaising with all concerned departments, check in process was impeccable – checked them in en route the hotel so they wouldn’t have to go through the typical check in process with help of our front office director Ken Wang at Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City. A special gratitude to Alaa Eldin Moustafa the complex director of banquet operations and his whole banquet’s team, without whom no event at Al Habtoor City Hotel Collection is possible. From sorting out back end tasks to what the guests finally see, it’s like magic.

Secondly, a huge shout out to our Level Seven’s restaurant manager Manasi Sharma for handling such large groups immaculately and always greeting each one with a beautiful smile in the mornings. Kudos to Chef Raja Nadar and his team, who were on point with everyone’s dietary restrictions, made sure there was enough protein in their breakfast be it vegetarian or non-vegetarian. Their preference of tea, coffee, juices, milk – anything they needed was served to them as requested in a proper and timely manner.?

Thirdly, the most important one goes out to the Tilak wickramasinghe and his housekeeping and laundry teams! Al Habtoor City Hotel Collection’s laundry team were doing an average of 770 pieces of laundry every day for the Asia Cup teams, and that’s not it, each piece of laundry were dry cleaned, ironed and returned to the guests on the same day. Now this is what you call dedication. Before they could ask for it, it was returned to them before promised time. The housekeeping team did a brilliant job, with all the sportsmen leaving the hotel at different times, each room was cleaned spotless regardless of the time they left. After a long game, be it a tough defeat or a victory, this is certainly the comfort that was needed at all key moments of the competition.?

Fourthly, the most significant team – the security team. They made the champions feel the intimacy and privacy needed for them to focus on the competition and give their best during each game. From controlling the fans at the hotel during the teams leaving and entering the hotel, securing each floor the sportsmen were staying at, making sure no one enters. Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City had become a Fan Zone for the South Asians in Dubai. We appreciate the hard work of Alaa Shaddad and his whole team, which made the process so easy for the teams to come in and out of the hotel.?

Lastly, the man who made this possible, no other than our Director of sales and marketing Hadi Pirzada . Hadi spent days and nights in back to back calls and meetings with the organizing committee of the tournament and internally with the operations teams to make the Asia Cup team’s stay as smooth as possible.?
