#Takeitback27 Alembic Pharmaceuticals and All the Pharma Companies!
Making us healthy but sickening the planet, day by day, pack by pack. No one is elusive to the fact that the burgeoning waste from the health care system has just surmounted during the COVID times. No one knows the best ways to handle all the waste but the least we know is to handle the packaged plastic used to supply medicines.
This year I got sick twice, once with COVID19 and other times a normal cold/flu and took the same medicine both times and got up and running in 2 weeks. Although the medicines really helped me to fasten the healing process, the predicament lies in the waste I generated over the period while getting better.
Looking back and introspecting the amount of medicines my parents or elders in the family may have taken even for a casual headache, I realise the irresponsible waste we generated and can't do much about it.
These plastic packages, don't mention the type of plastic, no sign of throwing in the garbage (though we all do) even though we know that most of it goes to the landfills and oceans sickening our planet.

Do you think there could be a solution to this man-made mayhem, is bar code the only option to track where the end products are or should we put our thinking caps to innovate disposable packaging or maybe a portable recycling machine for household use which recycles all the kinds of things based on our usage. My engineering degree is coaxing me towards that but am sure the upcoming bright young minds may do better justice to my idea.
BTW this is applicable to all the pharmaceutical companies and left for them to think of innovation in packaging (maybe an investor or consumer would be pleased with the solution)...think differently :)

2 年Very important point raise Harsha Mukherjee . I just started working on a CSR funded Waste Management Project with prime focus on plastics in Assam. Since people love to talk to me here as well, I will see if something can be done for this as well. I will share your message with other good social thinkers and might be something big impacting can be done for society.

2 年Harsha, Making us healthy seems little bit doubtful but yes, sickening the planet is 100 % true. Wonder why this is not understood by our so called responsible Pharma industry.

2 年Harsha Mukherjee Concern raised by you is valid . This is applicable not only for pharmaceutical products .. but all kinds of products used by consumers . While the requirements of packaging of medicines have to be carefully evaluated, keeping in view the sensitivity of the products , biodegradable packaging for most of the consumer products is desirable to address the issue flagged . Another critical aspect which should be kept view is the cost of such packaging. Consumers should b enlightened enuf to ansorb such costs .
