Takeaways from Fashion Week MN

Mezmira serves as your most fashionable friend for anyone from the fashion curious to the fashionista. And last week, many of our team attended their first Fashion Week with Fashion Week MN. We took note and wanted to share our top insights and takeaways.

There is no teacher like experience

Learning a new industry takes time and effort. I was able to see this new world, up close and personal, from yet another lens. Three cheers for field research!

Real women. Real connections.

We invited a gaggle of phenomenal females to join us at the fashion shows and pull up a chair near the runway. We also assembled the talented Mezmira team who typically collaborate over video. Hugs are much preferred to Zoom high-fives.

Every style has a story

We sponsored the “Capture your best self-ie” station at the Picnic: A Floral Fashion Frenzy show. From the fashion aficionados to the first-timers like me, I learned what inspired their looks and, most importantly, how it made them feel.?

Special event style does not have to be complicated?

As a stylist, I was reminded that statement dressing can range from a subtle push against a comfort zone (new color pairing, silhouette, make-up or more bold accessory) to repurposing a functional item- like wrapping a necktie around the wrist for dimension, interest and a pop of color.

Comfort is QUEEN

Feeling like yourself and comfortable in what you have on is where a great outfit actually starts.?

There is often more in your closet than you think?

Giving yourself the time and space to plan, be intentional and open to asking yourself questions about how you want to show up will help open up possibilities.?

The attitude and energy was infectious?

There was so much joy in the designs, and to me, it was most noticeable through the use of color.?

There was something for everyone

Ranging from seeing new points of view on swimwear, streetwear, childrens, formal, etc. And everyone was on the runway. There was no age or size limitation.?

It is a WHOLE experience?

For the PICNIC fashion show,? no detail went untouched. From the custom floral shoes, to the speciality cocktail, to the photo op that included flowers everywhere, it was a complete masterpiece (and such a fun way to think about consumer experience!)

The runway isn't as intimidating as I thought?

SO many trends can easily be taken into everyday life (and this is coming from someone who works in tech and wears athleisure 99% of the time...). It could simply be a pop of color inspired by the runway.
