My talk Splitting the Graph

Takeaways DataConf2023 Bologna and see you soon in Vienna and Paris

TAKEAWAYS

The Data Conference 2023 for the Embrace Transformation is over. What a blast! The conference was organized very professionally by Nino Letteriello and the team at FIT Academy that made sure everything was working according to plan.

I had the pleasure of hosting a panel with Mariana Hebborn PhD Dr. Thomas Wolfenstetter J?rg Werner and óscar Alonso sharing insights from the pharmaceutical industry on data value creation, -mesh and -democratization. The data mesh hype is over, it's all about practical implementation and use cases. I witnessed an entirely new use-case for data mesh; using data mesh to split up a company. Quite mind-puzzling, but logic, once you think of it!

I also did a talk about the reasons for writing my book The Enterprise Data Catalog and the unique architecture of Zeenea : By splitting graph capabilities, we maximize their potential. 170 people attended, thank you each and everyone.

Together with Richard MATHIS and Amir HAMZA I was also busy hosting a very buzzing workshop where we demonstrated how to easily build a domain map in Zeenea and then linking all you data to it. The room was packed and people were frankly thrilled by the simplicity and usefulness to visualize a domain map with enterprise data in it!

Jenny Andrew 's presentation of a survey of the UK DAMA Members was very interesting. Let's see this survey in a broader light: These insights is a true measurement of the data community's challenges - and they do not always match what tech vendors offer. Let's consider that a moment.

Ingard Moen 's presentation of data cataloging and data/information management in Statnett SF was a unique insight into a very complex domain namely distribution of electricity at continental scale and how to succeed with data management.

I also saw a panel discussion of how data should be used to fight climate change in urban environments. This was a remarkable panel, and the most outstanding example of defensive data governance I have witnessed in my career.

The discussion about using data to prevent climate change is very interesting. Any additional outcomes to share about it?

Very nice summary of the week, and kind of you to mention me! ?? I’ve been thinking about how you talk about organising the data first, and *then* benefit from the search capabilities of #knowledgeGraph … technology as an enabler of #dataManagement, not an exemption. People should hear more of this! ??

Thank you for sharing, Ole. I have noticed such a familiar image. Am I right in thinking that you have become an official Zeenea advocate/evangelist? ??
