In today’s digital world, finding relevant information over the internet is not big of a deal. You can simply visit Google.com, enter your query, and you will be given thousands of links that provide exactly what you want. This seems like a huge advantage only until you get on the other side of the story, i.e., you become a writer like me. 

The vast competition available on the internet makes it challenging for you to stand out with your writing. Moreover, the ranking process is being handled by algorithms here, which makes it even more difficult to find the top spot for your links without proper techniques.  

However, you must know that a significant percentage of this competition can be easily beaten with the help of rigorous editing. It is possible because many people who post on the internet don’t cross-check the information and edit it according to high standards. So when your written pieces are more refined than them, you will gradually gain the readers’ trust, and your links will secure the top spot. 

Here are the three necessary steps of rigorous editing that I follow and ask my all known writers to follow. 

Revising

The very first step in rigorous editing is to revise the entire piece that you have written. Revision means you have to add, replace, remove, and rearrange the content in a proper format so that your topic remains justified in the entire article. Plus, you need to cross-check the facts that you may have mentioned in it. Make sure that the source you have taken these stats or data from is reliable. 

Formatting is one of the most vital factors I take into account here. It will be best if you begin with an introduction, provide step by step information, and then conclude in the end. The article should be focused on the second section while keeping the other two short and compelling. 

Editing 

Once you make sure that all the information provided in your article is reliable and in a proper format, the next step is to edit it. This rigorous editing step requires you to make the article interesting and engaging. The sentences should be short and convincing, and there should be no ‘hard-to-understand’ words according to your target audience. 

Remember, people have got shorter attention spans nowadays. The more extended and tiresome you keep the writing, the lesser appealing it will be. All in all, you have to look into the presentation of information here. 

Proofreading

Finally, you will have to move to the proofreading step. Here, you need to check with the technical language demands, such as spellings, grammar, formatting, punctuation, and syntax. No matter how great your article is and how thoroughly checked the information is, no dedicated reader will prefer it if you miss out on this step. You can use tools like Grammarly to check your written pieces.
