Take your sales to the next level
Andy Farquharson
Founder @ a better monday | Buying great companies from retiring owners and transitioning to them employee ownership
Sales is in a state of evolution that has never been seen before, and the balance of control has moved substantially toward the buyer.
Buyers have access to more information than ever, and it is forcing the traditional sales model to shift. Salespeople need to adapt and evolve in order to stay ahead.
For some, this is a scary proposition. They can’t rely on out-of-the-blue cold calling and mass spam emails to hit their targets. Instead, they need to be thoughtful and relevant to their buyers.
This relevancy isn’t as easy as a personalized first name in an InMail or a two-second Google search about your prospect’s company. It’s two, three, or four layers deeper than that.
Buyers need us to peel back the layers of the onion and truly understand their problems and desires. They need us to empathize and provide valuable content when the time is right, not via a cold call while they are sitting down for a nice roast dinner on Sunday night.
Compound this shift in power towards the buyer with the growing sales technology stack and many traditional salespeople are being left behind. Fearful of a world where their job won’t exist anymore.
I believe this bodes well for the state of our industry and it’s best salespeople. The ones that adapt and evolve will thrive. Those that are willing to empathize, understand, and adopt technology will start winning more business than they ever did in the old world of sales.
But you need a structured playbook to make it happen.
