  • Apply a Perspective:Upper Left Shadow effect to each.
  • Change the color of each circle to the color the card insight will represent.
  • Left Align and Vertically Align the four shapes.

STEP 3:

  • Insert the four icons that will represent each card insight, (0.3” x 0.3”).
  • Center the top and bottom icons, and then left align + vertical align all four.
  • Group each icon with its background layer.
  • Save each of the 4 groups as .png images.

STEP 4:

  • Insert your background into your Power BI Report and set the Image Size to Fit.
  • Insert a Card(new) and make it the same size and position as the top-left Card Visual Background Box.
  • Insert your Measure (IE: Units Sold ).

STEP 5:

  • Format your Card as shown.
  • Bring in your Card(new) Image.
  • Make sure borders and background are off.

STEP 6:

  • Insert a Pill Shape and left align, below your Measure Value.
  • Apply Conditional Formatting to the shape color based on the Variance Measure you plan on using.

STEP 7:

  • Repeat the Conditional formatting for the Shape Border as well, going with a darker shade of green and red.

STEP 8:

  • Example of MoM% Variance Measure shown here.
  • Adjust the EOMONTH values as needed.

STEP 9:

  • Insert a basic Card and place a text version of your Variance measure inside, which shows up and down indicators.
  • Apply conditional formatting to the font color using the original variance measure.

STEP 10:

  • Insert two basic cards and add two additional context related measures.
  • Position in the same row as the oval shape.
  • Right-align with the icon background image.
  • Use a less prominent font color such as light gray and make italic if you'd like.

STEP 11:

  • Add an Area Chart to you card group, (IE: By Month if showing MoM%), and format as shown.
  • Add an average line for more context.

STEP 12:

  • Group your card layers, name them accordingly, and name your card group.
  • Place your card group in the proper order within your selection pane.

STEP 13:

  • Duplicate your New Card Group three times.
  • Position the far-right one in the center of the far-right box.
  • Select all four groups and align top and then distribute horizontally.

STEP 14:

  • Switch out the measures in your other three cards with the correct measures.
  • Swap out your card images with the correct images, (created in PowerPoint earlier).
  • Adjust your Card (new) formatting and conditional formatting accordingly.
  • Re-name your other three card groups.

Modern Power BI cards provide users with quick, visually engaging access to key contextual insights, enabling faster, more informed decision-making through high-density storytelling and enhanced data interpretability.
