The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted almost every country and every industry forever. It has amplified the rate of transformation and made the digital divide blindingly obvious.
More and more businesses have had to shift at least some of their offerings to digital just to continue operating. But in assessing those actions and events, they have all focused on a reactive approach - responding to events after they have happened.
If we are to take anything from the crisis, it is to make sure that we learn from it and accept a new normal where digital is dominant.
According to KPMG research, 80% of revenue growth by 2022 will hinge on digital offerings and operations. This means organizations can live or die by the way it designs and delivers technology services, responds to issues, and manages expectations.
Companies have to prepare for the bounce back: the influx of value that will need to be provided to consumers once the effects of the virus wear off. Customer behaviour will have changed forever, and through necessity, we must all be ready to do things very differently. Now is the time to reflect on what you are doing as a company, take stock, adapt and create resilience in response to the next normal.
So if you’re falling behind or holding onto an older way of doing things, it’s time to take digital transformation seriously.
