Take Time to Paws Over the Holidays

It seems the theme of my life the last few months has been BUSY. As I come to the end of the craziness, I'm looking forward to a small family visit, and then time with my hubby and puppy to relax, recharge, and focus on fun. Not a bad way to end the year I think.

The holidays aren't meant to be a stress-fest, so I hope that as you head into yours, you give yourself a bit of a break from busy.?2022 is going to be a great year (I can feel it, can you?), and you need to be ready for it.

Hey, Michelle Cederberg here, out for an early morning dog walk before my last keynote of 2021. I don't know if you can see it, but I'm in the dog park and there are literally thousands of ornaments all over the place, down what's called Candy Cane Lane here at Shouldice dog park.

I don't know about you, but it's been a pretty crazy last quarter. Heck, it's been a crazy 2021. Who am I kidding? I've been busier than ever with my speaking, and I guess because I talk about resilience and stress management, and empowering excellence with those things, it's no surprise. Everybody's a little bit stretched these days. I normally don't have presentations in December, but this year I have four. The last one is today, and then tomorrow I fly off to see my mom and sisters for four days. Then I'm going to settle into a little bit of holiday time with my husband and our dog Islay (chewing a stick right there.) How about that sunrise? Sometimes it's worth it to get up early.

I just wanted to check in with you all because I know I've been a little bit absent, and remind you that the holiday times this year don't need to be hustle bustle. They don't need to be busy, busy, busy, and stressed. And in fact, I don't think they should be, particularly this year. We've all had a lot on our plates. And now as we're heading into the holidays and into 2022, and we've got this, ‘Oh my God’, Omicron variant kicking around, the Corona coaster continues.

I want to remind you to pause. That's what Islay says… to paws, P-A-W-S, and check in with yourself more regularly over the holidays. Ask yourself, "What do I need for myself right in this moment?"

Things are very different right now. I feel like we all need to pause a bit more often through these holidays rather than racing and chasing, so that we can hit 2022 with fresh energy and a recharged mindset, for the year ahead. Because, I do think that 2022 is going to be one for the books in a positive way.

(There's our candy cane tree. Can you see that? It's a little bit of a distracted message this week.)

Pause long enough, regularly through the holidays to ask yourself, "What do I need in this moment for myself?" We've all been on a little bit of a ride the last couple years. We're not quite on the other side of this Corona coaster, so through the holidays, however you spend them, choose to pause, choose to check in with yourself. Choose to nap more,?to go for walks, to spend time with people that you love, to eat good food, and to just really embrace the holidays, however you spend it with your family.

I'm probably going to take a pause until the new year, simply because I've got some big things on my plate. I just stepped into the role of National President for the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers. Plus, I've got a very busy new year on the books for presenting.
