7 questions to ask yourself to take stock of your professional year
The end of year celebrations are here! With them come family reunions, plenty of light decorations, the return of winter… and the moment to leave behind another year. So, between 2 pieces of yule log, isn't this an opportunity to take stock of his life, his aspirations, his vision? Today, we invite you to take stock of your professional year in 7 questions. The positive, the negative and the unmentionable of everything that happened for you at work and in the office this year. Are you still in line with your professional goals? Is your career heading in the right direction? To know everything, make yourself comfortable under a blanket, a cup of your favorite hot drink within reach and a notebook in hand. Let's go for your review of the year!
#1 Which sentence could best describe the past year?
Let's start by looking at your year as a whole. What phrase could you use to best describe the major thing that happened in your life this year? A move, important training, a change of position at work, a new personal situation: what has marked your life in recent months? Here are 2 examples to help you find inspiration for your own personal year-end review:
#2 What are my successes this year?
Let's continue with the positive! It is always more exciting in this type of exercise to see the good side of things first. So what were your pride and your successes in connection with your professional life this year? Have you helped one of your colleagues to train and build skills on a subject? Have you gained in responsibilities? Is this the year you launched your side project to start building a new career that is more like you?
Write down everything, even the things that at first glance seem not so exceptional: getting to know your colleagues better, taking a training course that you have been waiting for for a while, daring to open up to your manager about your unhappiness at work. All of these are elements of which you can be proud and which deserve to be included in your professional report!
#3 What were my failures and the associated learnings?
With this question, the idea is certainly not to beat yourself up! On the contrary, we invite you to see each failure as a learning opportunity and a way to grow and move forward in your life. So what setbacks have you experienced this year? For each element listed, do not forget to identify the lessons learned and the actions you have taken to avoid repeating this type of situation.
Whether you missed a job interview, forgot an important deadline at work or did not dare to ask your employer for a raise, there are always lessons to be learned from the possible inconveniences and disappointments that arise on a daily basis. So don't forget to keep a positive eye on it!

#4 Did I achieve my goals?
To this question, 2 scenarios can arise.
You had no goals set for this year
In this case, try to analyze your previous months in a more detailed way: what occupied your thoughts at work? What did you choose to focus your energy on in particular? On the contrary, have you noticed your relationship with your job gradually deteriorating?
Try to deduce intrinsic objectives from it: develop my expertise on such a subject, take stock of my professional expectations to begin to redirect my career, etc. They will help you develop your vision and set your goals for the coming year. It's never too late to start!
You had set goals
In this second case, it will be easier for you to analyze the achievement of your objectives! What did you manage to accomplish? What did you start doing but didn't finish? What goals have you left out completely?
For objectives that are partially or completely left out, ask yourself the reasons behind them. Is it because the goal was too ambitious? Alternatively, perhaps your priorities have changed during the year?
Do not forget your global vision! You may have invested considerable energy on a project that was not in your objectives last January. Take it into account in the assessment of your professional year. Your goals are allowed to evolve and change, just like you!
Finally, don’t forget to congratulate yourself on the goals you actually achieved this year! They are the ones who will restore your self-confidence and encourage you to define an ambitious vision for the year to come.

Establish good habits
“Success is the result of daily habits, not a single transformation.
This quote translated from the book Nothing Can Change Everything by @James Clear illustrates the power of putting habits in place in your daily life to get closer to your vision.
So what can you do on a daily basis that will bring you closer to your professional ideal? Plan a moment of reading each day to develop your knowledge in your field? Launch a topic of conversation with your colleagues every day to overcome your shyness?
Regarding good habits, we advise you to adopt them one by one rather than all at the same time. Thus, you focus on a single novelty at a time and only move on to the next when the previous one is acquired. Note that it takes an average of 66 days to adopt a new daily habit.
