Take the scenic route by default

Take the scenic route by default

“Eventually, your goals have to change, because you will be tired, injured or just too old. Or you can’t get strong anymore.”

“You will reach your peak quickly in sport, 26 years on average. You have to be younger than 28 to be accepted into the Navy Seals training program.”

What do you do?

You change your goals.

Gigantic Ronnie Coleman said he loved all of his Olympia wins, but only after he quit.

While he was competing, preparing and training, he was so deep into the weeds, that there was no time to worry about the OUTCOME!

Your goals are the same; you can strive to go for the OUTCOME and do what will give you that outcome. You keep changing the outcomes you want until you find an outcome you can not achieve.

Or you set out to enjoy the Journey, the excitement of training for your outcome.

===

Practically it can look like this:

“My weight has not moved for three weeks, should I go back to the approach I used three months ago?”

It depends, is it the right time for you to focus on an Extreme Diet Approach? Or should you put your energy towards enjoying your training instead of having a single-minded focus on what, when and how you eat?

And

You will prefer the scenic route to your goals?

It leaves us happier, satisfied and with the energy for improvement constantly.

For example, is Olympic Weightlifting the best approach to build more muscle and stay healthy?

For me it certainly is, I wake up thinking about Snatching heavier weights, and wondering if icecream is going to make me lift heavier weights.

You might have forgotten how brief that peak in your chosen sport was, but chasing after “Uplifting Journeys” makes life SWEET.
